First Album!!!
When asked if I have heard this album, my reaction usually involves looking at the ground, kicking the dirt, and mumbling to myself, “No.” The reaction is usually the same, “Holy shit! The Black Keys a AMAZING! You’re an IDIOT!!! Seriously Matt, they are the Jesus of music! I just shit myself!!!!!!!!”
Okay, a little bit of hyperbole there, but everyone seems to mess themselves over this band, ultimately hindering me from wanting to give them the time of day. But after a listen I’ll say this. I’m super glad that music like this exists in a world of Bieber and Lou Reed/Metallica. I recognized more songs than I thought (mostly from the first half of the record. But the second half of the record might be some of the best background music I’ve heard in a while. That might sound negative but the truth is I pretty much built this blog, linked it to twitter (after changing my twitter account info), and got work done, all while listening to this album. Not bad if you ask me.
Grade: Perfect for an hour long Saturday car ride to a vineyard for wine tasting.
